Everything you need to know before you sail — in your language.
Choose your yacht and week on our site and send a booking request, or contact us directly. We confirm availability and send you a secure payment link. Your dates are held as an option until the deposit is received; the booking is confirmed once the deposit is paid.
To confirm and complete a charter, payment is made in three steps:
We accept bank transfer and credit card (Visa / Mastercard) through a secure online payment link sent for each booking. We issue an official receipt (ΑΠΥ) for every charter and extras payment. All prices are in Euro (€) and include Greek VAT where applicable.
Yes. Base extras (for example the Charter Pack, outboard engine, SUP or WiFi) are payable in cash or by card at check-in and are receipted on the spot.
If the Charterer cancels the booking, the following cancellation fees apply, based on the date of written cancellation notice relative to the scheduled embarkation date:

Additional Terms:
The Charter Pack is the one obligatory end-of-charter package. It covers the final cleaning of the yacht, bed linen and towels (per person: one bath towel, one face towel, pillowcase, sheets and duvet), electricity & water for the first and last day at the base, 5 litres of petrol for the tender outboard, and 1½ bottles of cooking gas. Its price depends on the size and type of the yacht (monohull or catamaran) and is shown at booking.
Common optional extras include an outboard engine for the tender, a stand-up paddle (SUP), a WiFi router (unlimited or 10 GB), early embarkation (fast-track check-in), a professional skipper, a hostess, and the Damage Waiver. Availability and prices are shown at booking and are payable at the base, with a receipt.
Yes. A professional skipper is available as an extra, and a hostess can be added on request. The skipper fee and the skipper’s provisions allowance are shown at booking (see “Skippered charters” below for their role).
A WiFi router is available as an extra (unlimited or 10 GB packages). Mobile coverage across the Saronic Gulf and the Cyclades is generally good.
Alimos Marina, Isobox A47, Athens — the largest marina in Athens, about 20 minutes from Athens International Airport (ATH), and the gateway to the Saronic Gulf and the Cyclades.
Our app, documents and emails are available in 11 languages: English, Greek, Italian, German, Russian, French, Romanian, Polish, Hebrew, Spanish and Dutch.
The key for a sailing holiday is simplicity. Casual beach attire works on deck; for evenings ashore, slacks or a sundress are more appropriate. Bring rubber-soled boat or tennis shoes rather than hard soles, and a windbreaker or a long-sleeved shirt for cooler evenings. Above all, protect yourself from the sun — plenty of sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat and loose cotton cover-ups. Please pack in soft-shell bags for easy storage on board.
Safety comes first. Live wind and sea forecasts for the Saronic Gulf and the Cyclades are on our Weather page and built into the Tailwind app for every charter. Follow the base team’s advice and stay in a safe harbour when needed.
Pets may be accepted on some yachts by prior arrangement. Please ask us before booking so we can confirm the yacht and any conditions that apply.
Before your trip, contact our office by phone, WhatsApp or through the app. During the charter, our Base Manager and 24/7 technical team are available, with emergency contact details provided at check-in and in your charter documents. Our base manager responds quickly, 7 days a week, from 10:00 to 20:00.
The yacht is insured under Greek law against fire, marine and collision risks and third-party damage. The Company is not liable for loss of or damage to personal belongings, for any personal injury, for consequential loss, or for delay caused by weather, force majeure or a port authority. These terms are governed by Greek law. We recommend personal travel and cancellation insurance, which is not included in the charter price.
Most of our sailing yachts and catamarans may be rented as “bareboats” — private charters with no skipper or crew. To hire a bareboat, you and/or someone in your crew need the appropriate qualifications and are responsible for the navigation and handling of the yacht. Most bareboat yachts accommodate up to 10 or 12 persons, and the per-person cost is usually at or below the cost of a resort holiday, without the crowds.
The Greek Authorities require at least one sailing licence/certification and one experienced crew member as co-skipper for bareboat charters. ASA & RYA certifications are typically recognised, but Day Skipper certificates (or those with nautical-mile restrictions) may sometimes be rejected by the Port Authorities. To be safe, contact us so we can evaluate your licence and confirm you are good to go.
You must have your original sailing licence at the base on embarkation for the on-the-spot checks by the Port Authorities, plus a copy for our records.
Bareboat charters are usually offered Saturday to Saturday; depending on the yacht’s booking plan we may be able to accommodate other dates, so feel free to ask.
Charters start on Saturday at 17:00. Where available, a fast-track process (early embarkation) allows check-in from 14:00 for an additional fee. Charters end on Saturday at 09:00 (disembarkation); you must be back at your designated finishing base by Friday at 17:00.
The price includes the use of the yacht and its equipment (as per each yacht’s inventory list), marine insurance, and all taxes & currently applicable VAT. It does not include running expenses needed to operate the yacht (fuel, fresh-water consumption, port fees, food and drinks, personal travel or cancellation insurance) or your personal expenses.
On a bareboat charter you plan your own route. At check-in, the base team goes over your intended route with you and advises on expected weather and suitable anchorages in the Saronic Gulf and beyond. Plan to reach your farthest point within the first third of the charter and to be within about 40 nautical miles of the base two days before the end.
Yes. There is a supermarket near the base for self-provisioning, or we can arrange advance provisioning with our partners (see the Provisioning page) delivered to the yacht before embarkation.
Please use soft-shell bags, which stow easily on board. If you need luggage stored at the base during your charter, ask the office in advance and we will let you know what we can arrange.
There is no laundry on board. Laundry services and launderettes are available in the larger ports and towns; the base team can point you to the nearest option.
Our yachts run on 220V shore power while connected at the dock. At anchor, 12V sockets and USB charging are available (some yachts also have an inverter). High-draw appliances such as hairdryers and kettles work only on shore power or with the engine running — please use them sparingly to protect the batteries.
Fuel and port fees are running expenses and are not included in the charter price. Fuel is settled on consumption at check-out (the tank is handed over full and returned full). Port and mooring fees vary by island and season; many Saronic anchorages are free, while organised marinas and popular town quays charge a nightly fee. The base team can give you a realistic estimate for your planned route at check-in.
At check-in you meet the base team, who run the yacht-familiarisation briefing and inspect the yacht with you so you have a full overview of its systems and safety equipment. At check-out the base staff inspect the yacht again and you sign the handover papers — a good moment to share your feedback.
Before check-in, please complete the online check-in in the Tailwind app (crew list, skipper details, identity documents and the required signatures) — this speeds up boarding and is mandatory.
For any technical issue on board, call our Base Manager (contact details are in your Base Information file, provided at check-in). Our technical team operates 24/7 to provide quick, professional assistance whenever and wherever needed.
Each charter is secured by one of three options, chosen at booking: (A) Damage Waiver — a non-refundable amount paid at the base; (B) Security Deposit — a refundable deposit (cash or card hold) returned after check-out; (C) Combined — a reduced waiver plus a reduced refundable deposit. A refundable deposit is returned after check-out, once the yacht is inspected and found in order, less any damage or missing items.
Skippered charters are required for groups with no qualified sailors and recommended for anyone who does not yet feel confident handling a yacht. We suggest the right yacht type and provide an experienced skipper who handles the yacht for you. The route and islands are entirely up to you — every skippered charter begins with a briefing to agree the best itinerary for your interests.
Yes. Because the yacht is handled by our professional crew, the security guarantee can be reduced through the Damage Waiver (option A) or the Combined option (C): you pay a smaller, non-refundable amount instead of leaving the full refundable deposit. On skippered charters, damage to sails, engine, hull and sail-drive caused by the skipper is the skipper’s responsibility, while you remain responsible for your own actions on board.
The skipper is responsible for navigation, mooring, anchoring and manoeuvring, for keeping the deck and cockpit clean and fully functional, for refilling water and fuel (at the charterer’s expense) and for port formalities. The hostess does the daily shopping and prepares and serves breakfast and one light meal (lunch or dinner) each day, assists the skipper, and keeps the communal areas clean. The crew have their own cabin and share a WC (on a catamaran, a bow cabin).
You meet your skipper (and hostess, if booked) at the base on the day of embarkation. The charter begins with a briefing between you and the crew to agree the itinerary for the week.
During the charter you provide meals for the crew, or a daily food allowance. The skipper’s provisions amount is shown at booking; the crew usually eat the same provisions as the guests.
A gratuity is entirely at your discretion and is never obligatory. If you were happy with your skipper or hostess, a tip is always appreciated.
As with bareboat charters, skippered charters usually run Saturday to Saturday, starting at 17:00 and ending at 09:00. The services of the skipper and/or hostess end once the yacht returns to its home port.
Crew-service cancellation fees are: more than 36 days before embarkation — 20% of the crew fees; 22 to 35 days before embarkation — 50% of the crew fees; 21 days or less before embarkation — 100% of the crew fees. See the Cancellation Policy above for the full terms.
The Damage Waiver (option A) acts as security-deposit insurance: for a non-refundable amount it covers damage up to the yacht’s weekly security deposit, so you do not leave the full refundable deposit. Any damage beyond that amount, and any damage caused by your own actions, remains payable by you.
